The North Pole
Recently launched, The North Pole, formerly known as The North Star, is Islington’s newest addition to the North London social scene.
The fully refurbished pub specialises in craft beer, real ale and ciders, offering over 22 draught products and 30 bottled beers from independent suppliers in a contemporary pub environment that features a retro games room, two semi‐private spaces and alfresco courtyard.
Owing to its original premises as an off‐licence and wholesalers, the pub provides a unique drink take-away service in the form of four-pint jugs of draught ale and mixed bottles six‐packs to enjoy at home.
Options include a range of Cornwall-based Harbour Brew on tap, alongside bottled USA‐based Goose Island Madame Rose and Cave Creek Chilli beer from Mexico.
Traditional pub favourites, including homemade pies; sausage and mash with gravy and beer battered haddock with chips, peas and tartare sauces it alongside choices such as pulled pork and beef sliders; ‘mac and cheese’, stone‐baked pizzas and a whole rack of BBQ ribs with slaw and fries.
As well as the games room, featuring Space Invaders, Pacman, One‐armed Bandit ,Bar Billiards and a Pinball Machine to name but a few, The North Pole’s two semi-private areas include a snug for up to 20 people and an upper mezzanine level for up to 35.
The interior has been re-worked using Farrow & Ball colours to create an elegant backdrop for the numerous vintage pieces that include Wedgewood collectables and amusing framed quotes courtesy of Oscar Wilde, all sourced from Kempton Park Fair.
