Old Speckled Hen
The distinctive “Old Speckled Hen” branded MGB was selected as one of just 50 MGBs to complete a circuit tour at the world famous Silverstone race track during the MGLive! weekend.
Celebrating 50 years of the MG classic model, the Sunday parade was a rare opportunity for ”Old Speckled Hen” to be a part of MGB’s history and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support at the same time.
The 1966 “Old Speckled Hen” MGB was the fifth oldest car to complete two circuits of the famous F1 circuit on the day and earlier that day was selected as one of six cars to star in a smaller parade with a Greene King beer ambassador at the wheel.
Dom South, Marketing Director Greene King Brewing and Brands, said: “Being selected to drive the Silverstone circuit really topped off a great celebratory weekend for the 50th anniversary of the MGB and a fine moment in “Old Speckled Hen’s” history. As a brand we are always looking to seek out something different and this circuit tour really fitted the bill.”
The exclusive circuit tours raised over £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity actively supported by Greene King and for which they hope to raise £1million over the next three years following a partnership launched back in May.
Exhibitors at the show registered interest in being considered for a circuit tour spot via the event website and the lucky 50 were then selected on the morning of the show.
“Old Speckled Hen” featuring at MGLive! is part of ongoing celebrations for the MGB’s 50th anniversary, including Goodwood Festival of Speed and (28 June – 1 July) and the famous Goodwood Revival (14 – 16 September).
