Oakley Wine Agencies
Specialising in the importation of Portuguese wines to the UK, Oakley Wine Agencies are a small, family owned and run company based in Essex. Established in 1990, the company have been taking on new projects in Spain and Brazil.
Small, but perfectly formed – working together with clients as large as Tesco and Waitrose – but also offering a range of products specifically aimed at the independents, Oakley Wine Agencies are the importing UK sales force behind Portuguese brand ‘Tagus Creek’ and last year the development of the Tesco Finest Portuguese range.
Their second year at LIWF, Oakley Wine Agencies will be at stand G4 with producers from all over Portugal, showcasing some of their new developments:
Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo of the Douro is launching their new Port brand ‘Clã’ in the UK, which demonstrates innovative modern designed packaging and Port of outstanding quality. Home of the Amorim family – owners of the cork industry in Portugal – they boast a luxurious hotel and beautiful winery with stunning views over the Douro Valley. Indeed, it was voted ‘One of the nine must-see wineries throughout the world’ by the American Airlines travel magazine in 2011.
Sabe from Beira Interior are launching their new brand TNT, which is a delicious red wine with explosive character. A blend of Touriga Nacional and Trincadeira, this is an excellent wine showcasing Portugal’s best red varieties in this dramatic and flavour intense blend.
Quinta de Sant’Ana of Lisbon, will be launching their new entry level red wine Sant’Ana. The winery is run and owned by Englishman James Frost and his seven sons. A charming winery with a rare portfolio of handcrafted wines, including a Riesling and Pinot Noir.
Joao Portugal Ramos is launching a new brand Borba, which is a sub brand of the successful Marques de Borba range, which is aimed at entry level consumers.
Brazil and its up and coming wine industry is one of Oakley Wine Agencies new ventures for 2012. Already working with ViniBrasil, and importing the Rio Sol wines into the UK, they have identified a gap in the market and are currently seeking out some more excellent Brazilian wines to bring to the UK.
Brazilian wines will be on show at the LIWF stand to taste this year.
Oakley Wine Agencies will have something for everyone and believe 2012 will be an exciting growth year for Portugal, Spain and Brazil.
