Morgan M Barbican
Morgan Meunier of Morgan M Barbican is off to Wembley having reached the final three in the Restaurant Chef Category of the 2012 Craft Guild of Chef Awards which recognise the tremendous amount of talent that exists within British kitchens today.
Morgan is celebrated for his signature ‘affordable haute cuisine’, with dishes that, whilst meticulously crafted, are modern and simple.
Of his nomination, Morgan said “I am delighted to have reached the final three of the awards as they are a fantastic way to pay tribute to chefs from across the industry. My mission has always been to move people with my food, provoking some kind of emotion from guests about what they have experienced”.
Morgan faces competition from Richard Allen of the Grand Jersey Hotel and Spa and Paul Shields of The Covent Garden Hotel, both nominated for an award in his category.
16 awards are up for grabs, 14 open to nominations, two of which are in the hands of a special team of Craft Guild member judges which includes a Special Award presented to the person who above all has made an enormous contribution to the industry. The New Restaurant of the Year Award is also judged by the Craft Guild committee.
An elite line up of judges has whittled down a record number of entries to reveal the final three nominees for all categories, but will have to wait until the special awards ceremony on Wednesday, June 13, at Wembley Stadium to find out which of them has won these coveted prizes.
