Carluccio’s and Action Against Hunger
Carluccio’s CEO Simon Kossoff and six members of his team have completed a 500-mile charity bike ride from Glasgow to London for Action Against Hunger, a humanitarian charity committed to ending child hunger in some of the world’s poorest countries.
Carluccio’s raised over £41,000 as a direct result of the cycle challenge and a staggering £812,000 since nominating Action Against Hunger as its chosen charity in 2008.
The eight-day cycle ride began on Friday 6th July at Carluccio’s in Glasgow, where Antonio Carluccio saw the team off. The group then cycled all the way to London, travelling via the Leeds, Leicester, Nottingham and Milton Keynes Carluccio’s restaurants.
On Friday 13th July at St Albans, 25 additional members of the Carluccio’s team joined the cyclists for the last 20-mile leg of the challenge to London’s West End. They were welcomed by Antonio Carluccio and supporters at Carluccio’s in St Christopher’s Place and presented a cheque for monies raised to date to the charity.
Carluccio’s continues to support Action Against Hunger, donating 50p from every sale of its popular dish Penne Giardiniera across the group’s restaurants. Donations in support of the charity cycle challenge are still being submitted at www.justgiving.com/carluccios.
